Do I need TRT, and how do I know if I am a candidate?

You are a candidate for TRT only when you have both low testosterone symptoms and confirmed low testosterone on lab work, not one without the other. Diagnosis usually requires two separate blood draws taken in the early morning, between 7 and 10 a.m., when levels run highest, and most providers treat a total testosterone below 300 ng/dL as low.

If your labs are normal. If you have low testosterone symptoms but your bloodwork is normal or borderline, TRT is usually not the answer. A careful provider looks for other causes first, such as thyroid problems, high prolactin, medication side effects, sleep issues, or depression.
