Volunteer

Show up for a young person in your city.

You don’t need a background in social work. Most of what young people are missing is an adult who keeps showing up — and that’s a thing you can offer.

Ways to help

What volunteers do

  • Community outreach events

Help run the events where we meet young people and families directly.

  • Meal sharing with EYM

Join a session inside secure detention — share a meal, play a game, have a conversation.

  • Share a professional skill

Mock interviews, résumé review, financial literacy, trade knowledge. If you know how to do a job, you can teach part of it.

  • Behind the scenes

Admin, logistics, photography, and event set-up. Unglamorous and genuinely needed.

Screening and safety

Because we work with young people — including minors in secure facilities — volunteers in direct-contact roles complete a background check and an orientation before their first session. We’d rather tell you that up front than surprise you with it.

Time commitment

It varies by role. Some volunteers help at a single event; others commit to a recurring session. Tell us what you can realistically offer and we’ll match you to something honest.
